Won't engage gear but I can push the stich onto gear without

Won't engage gear but I can push the stich onto gear without pressing the clutch and the engine running
Assistant: Has the clutch been slipping? Are you having any trouble shifting?
Customer: Not been slipping at all or had any trouble with shifting was driving back from dropping my wife off and suddenly the revs went really high and the car started slowing
Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: Ford fovus Cc 2007
Assistant: Are you fixing your Focus yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Only just happened. Had the drivers side driveshaft replaced less than a week ago
Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No. That's everything

Hi thanks and sorry for the delay

Ok looking at your description I would normally suggest the clutch has gone completely as the clutch is used to disconnect the engine drive from the gearbox

however as you have had the drivers side driveshaft replaced less than a week ago I would be inspecting this firstly incase it has popped outward of the gear box or

split /sheared close to the gearbox (I have seen this a few times with aftermarket driveshafts )

as this would cause this exact issue and as you haven’t had any clutch issues it would be a more logical route to check firstly before going down the clutch route
