Hi my name is ***** ***** am here to assist you Today what happens in reverse does it jump out of gear.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
In reverse, it’s a manual, I try to move on clutch but the rpm drops from around 800rpm to about 400rpm from what I can tell abs shudders like it’s about to stall
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

Can you feel the ABS pump working.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
What’s the ABS pump?
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

A strange noise from the engine bay.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I can hear a lot of noise from the engine bay, I’ve looked it up online, I’m sure it is working
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

That will be the ABS pump check the ABS pick up rings on the drive shafts see image.

I see you have another issue / question regarding low RPMs is this issue related to the question we are discussing now.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Yea it is, I have a low rpm overall, it sits around 500rpm but drops sometimes in start stop traffic, any ideas?
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

Does the engine warning light come on see image.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
No engine warning light
Customer: replied 15 days ago.
This is In Reverse
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

Could be a throttle body issue but you need to check for air / vacuum leaks first.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
There are not any leaks that I can hear
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

Is that you in reverse just lifting the clutch up and not touching the accelerator pedal.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Yeah, just the clutch, I have to add more gas to keep it from stalling and keep it moving
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

And if you are in stop start traffic you do the same just use the clutch to slowly move forward.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I try to, but I don’t get enough power from the clutch, and the clutch rpm drops just like in reverse
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

Other than that are the RPMs fine.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
When driving on motaway and just general driving the rpm is fine
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

The revs drop as you are putting load on the engine that is normal.

Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

Are you understanding the load you are putting on the engine as you ride the clutch in traffic / reverse just normal conditions.

Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

If you need me just get back to me regards Gavin.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
I get what you mean, but it just doesn’t feel right, my car just can’t handle just the clutch like other cars, what can cause rpm idling problems like this?
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

It is not a problem it is normal the smaller the engine the bigger the effect on RPMs in stop / start traffic / reverse.

Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 15 days ago.

You might prefer an automatic if it is a worry to you.

Customer: replied 15 days ago.
Again, you can’t suggest automatic, as your basically saying I have no clutch control, I know my car, I know I have a rpm issue
Expert:  Gavin Perry replied 14 days ago.

I am not saying anything about your clutch control the RPMs going down that is normal as the engine is going under load as you crawl along in stop / start traffic or in reverse.
