My car keeps showing a battery symbol and saying battery not

This answer was rated:

Hello, my car keeps showing a white battery symbol and saying battery not charging. It would come on and go off on its own after I switch off the car. It is coming on after driving for 20 miles mostly on motorways.
JA: Have you tested the battery with a voltmeter? And can you see if it's leaking or not?
Customer: Yes we tested and it was 12.4 after sometime it even went up to 13.5
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: skoda superb 2017
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: so far nothing, I took it to a specialist but the warning was off so he could not diagnose it
JA: Is there anything else the Mechanic should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they'll be able to help you.
Customer: No that’s except this is affecting start/stop function

Hi my name is ***** ***** am here to assist you Today the charge voltage should be around 13.7 volts when you tested it and it was 12.4 volts that was just battery voltage and no charge coming from the alternator. Often this is down to the regulator inside the alternator starting to fail.

Hi Gavin, does it mean that I have to buy a complete alternator?

It does yes or if you can be without the vehicle for 24 hours have your regulator in the alternator replaced.

I think replaced the regulator sounds to be a batter option.

A lot cheaper what part of the UK are you based.
