Customer Question

sitting at work had sharp pain bottom of rib cage across body that stayed for a five mins and then moved to centre of back and up to chest a bit. very painful. disappeared when got up and got into car to drive home. played cricket yesterday evening and was a little stiff from batting a lot - what was likely cause of pain? injury or something more serious?

This is Dr. David

the pain could have been from strained abdominal or chest muscles from you playing cricket yesterday.

this can deplete your body of potassium and magnesium levels and cause muscle cramps

most likely not serious and not an injury if the pain went away.

make sure you drink enough fluids during and after exercising

and make sure you stretch after working out.
