I’ve been having very fast heart rate for 12 weeks now and yesterday it went up to 150bpm so I was sent for an emergency ecg can you tell me if this ecg reading is ok and it’s anxiety causing my fast heart rate or is there something seriously wrong with my heart

This is sinus rhythm. Not AF or SVT

Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

Or VT

Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

Is there anything else regarding this I can help you with?

What is sinus rhythm
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

Sinus is the type of rhythm, it is a normal rhythm. Just the rate is fast.

I’m having very fast heart rate every day and I’m worried sick
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

So anxiety can cause it, also problems such as hyperthyroidism, caffeine use.

If it is an ongoing issue then a blood test and 24 hour ecg is needed. If normal, manage as per anxiety and use a beta blocker.

I’m on propranolol doesn’t help
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

What dose? And how often do you take it?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
80mg slow release
Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Once a day
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

Is that how you were prescribed it?

Customer: replied 11 days ago.
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 11 days ago.

That is a very high dose. I would suggest a immediate acting option three times daily instead.

And have those tests.
