Sharon, I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. When the fur becomes too matted to comb out without causing pain to the cat, the mats are shaved away with an electric razor. You can do this with a pet razor purchased where pet supplies are sold or bring TC to a groomer who can do this for you. If TC won't stand for this, her vet will need to put her into a "twilight sleep" to do so and then reverse the sleep when TC has been groomed.
