Ask a Cat Question, Get an Answer ASAP!
Hello, you are through to Dr Linda, a UK based vet.
I'm sorry to hear Socks has not been herself and understand your concern.
Has she had her vaccines and first vet check?
Any other signs such as vomiting, diarrhoea, a reduced appetite, fast breathing or pale gums?
Do you have a rectal thermometer that you could take her temperature with?
Has she eaten all of her meals today?
Have you seen her pass normal poo and pee today?
Ok, that is reassuring.
Unfortunately those thermometers are not accurate in pets.
Her ears are usually a good indicator of her temperature and should be warm- they should feel the same as her sisters.
Any chance she has had access to a toxin such as a lily plant, raisins, chocolate, cleaning products or human medicine?
Ok, thank you.
Lethargy by itself can have many causes including an infection, abdominal pain, toxin ingestion, nausea, a source of pain (e.g. a back strain) etc.
So, without examining her, it is hard to say what may be going on.
It is a good sign she is still eating and has no other symptoms.
I would be tempted to let her have a good sleep and see how she is tomorrow morning. If still not right, a vet visit would be best in case we are missing something.
Not at all.
This window remains open so you can keep me updated and continue to ask questions.
Wishing her a speedy recovery.
