Is it corrrect that a vet can’t supply flea deterent tablets

Customer Question

Is it corrrect that a vet can’t supply flea deterent tablets without the cat first being weighed(cost£45)
JA: I'll do all I can to help. Fleas can be tricky to get rid of, but the Expert can share some tips. What's the cat's name and age?
Customer: Jackson age 2 It is just a monthly dose to ensure no fleas develop
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know?
Customer: I object to the vets insistence that I have to pay for him to be weighed before selling me the tablets He,s obviously in very good condition

Hello, you are through to Dr Linda, a UK based vet.

Any medicine that is Prescription Only requires your cat to be examined and weighed.

The flea tablets in question are presumably prescription medicines.

You have the option of buying non prescription treatment such as Frontline spot-on from a chemist or online.

I'm just checking in to ensure this is all OK?

If there is anything else, please let me know.
