Pet Cat, My cat had 2 kitties yesterday around 4 o'clock. We

JA: I'll do all I can to help. Can you tell me a little more about the cat's situation? How long has this been a concern?
Customer: My cat had 2 kitties yesterday around 4 o'clock.
JA: Does the cat ever go outside? Are they taking any medications?
Customer: We thought she just had 2 kitties however today around 15:00 she had 1 more kitty but it was dead
JA: What's the cat's name?
Customer: So we don't know if she has more kitties inside. Bagheera is her name I called her vet in Waterloo but they can't attend her today. I called the vet in Oriel park and they are fully booked
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know about Bagheera?

Hi there, this is Dr Linda, a UK based vet.

I'm sorry to hear this and understand your concern for the cat.

Most often, cats will have 4 kittens though 3 can be normal too.

We should be able to feel any remaining kittens in the uterus, but this can be tricky if inexperienced.

If you have any doubt, or if mum is unwell or contracting unsuccessfully, a vet check is best.

The vet may be able to tell you from simply feeling the uterus or may scan mum to be sure.

If there is a kitten remaining and it is stuck, a c section may be performed.

It's been a nightmare to get an appointment on the vet around Merseyside, I already called 4 of them.The 2 firsts kitties were born yesterday they are ok so we didn't expect the 3 ones today and it was dead

I'm so sorry to hear about your trouble getting a vet but I'm glad she was able to birth the kittens naturally without intervention.

There can be many reasons for kittens being born dead including an infection or a lack of oxygen. Sadly, stillborn are not uncommon.
