Yes I can log on via main computer

Go to Settings, Accounts.

Press on Email and press on your email account and press Remove Account.

Once done, add the email account to the phone and tell me if it will now allow you to add it please.

It depends on the firmware you have and you may have an older version.

If you go to Settings, do you then see Accounts & Synch?

yes, we are only doing things on the Phone as this is what has the issue.

it is not letting me set up with that email or password XXXXX I did notice that the keyboard doesn't respond to passwords...would that make any difference

yes it would

Remove the battery from the phone and wait 5 minutes.

Put the battery back in, turn on the phone and then try to add it.

there is a keyboard....the prompt says it can take email numbers and credit card details but not password...but there is a box for an email and a password XXXXX I assume is the one I log on to BT....

no....i have followed the steps and I am in 'set up email' then theres a box to put in email number then another box saying 'password' but when i put password XXXXX it throws it back
