Hi Derek,
Thank you for your reply and sorry for delay. I was offline.
Sometimes your phone can be unresponsive and keep you from using the device properly. The most important reason for this issue can be glitch in the software or bad phone settings.
Please follow the steps below:
1. In Menu mode, select Settings.
2. Select "Messages"
3. Select "Text Messages"
4. Be sure that "Service center" number is ***** TalkTalk sms center number is +447785011324.
5. Confirm settings and reboot your phone.
6. Test your text messages.
The easiest way to set your phone for picture messages (MMS messages) is to send text TALK to 40127 and you'll receive text messages with configuration settings.
If none of the previous solutions works, perform the factory reset of your phone using the procedure below.
Select Settings → General → Reset → Factory reset → Yes.
When done, remove SIM card from your phone, wait 2 minutes, replace SIM card, turn on your phone and test it.
