Customer: It is a Dell inspiron 17 3000 with windows 10[
JA: What have you tried so far with your Inspiron?
Customer: Setting up transfering programs and files etc from my old computer

I am your tech expert Nolan and I am excited for the opportunity to assist you today, but most importantly thank you for using JustAnswer for your technology and general questions. Ok, so a SSD can't be "increased" in and of itself, but you can always put a bigger SSD into your Dell Inspiron to increase its capacity. Or again, always get an external hard drive and put your big files on it to clear up space on your computer. And no, you can't install programs on the D: drive, it is mostly for a partition back up for the main HD (C:), it is honestly best to leave the D: alone as it is needed for potential recovery/back up partitioning of the drive.
