Hi my name is ***** ***** I will be the expert working with you today to help resolve your problem.
check the router wifi password ***** then try to enter the correct password
let me know when you are online i can remotely connect and let you know the router password ***** then you can enter to connect.
As we live on a small complex we use a simple easy to remember password ***** ********** I have scanned for available network and it is still saying it is not within range. I should mention we currently reside in Turkey. My laptop is recognising it, but not the tablet.
your tablet must be within wifi range if you are entering the correct password ***** will not connect due to range.
tablet and computer have different wireless range laptops have more powerful in capturing wifi range
I have used it successfully in the past from current location. It should be in range.
do you have the laptop so that we can check the password ***** are entering on the tab is correct.
I am working on laptop now, so it's connecting fine. Usually we have no need to re-enter the password.
no problem we can recheck one time
can you tell me what operating system you have on the computer
is it windows 7, 8 or mac
single click on the wireless icon on the bottom right hand corner
then click on open network and sharing center.
let me know on which wireless network is the laptop connected
on which wireless network is the laptop connected
click on open network and sharing center
do you see wireless1 in the list
double click on wireless1
it will open a new windows with connection and security tab
Oh maybe I haven't clicked on the right one. It came up with network infrastructur and the serial No TD-W8961ND IGD. Just a moment I'll retry.
I have come up with a screen saying network connection status
have clicked on security
single click on the wireless icon on your laptop
do you see open network and sharing center
Yes I have tuphat screen
sorry keyboard meltdown
I have that screen up
yes it's the only one listed.
click on the security tab
and put a check mark on the box show characters
you will see the password *****
note it down and try the same password ***** the tab
exactly the same as I said, and that is what I have been doing.
if the password ***** ***** then i want you to turn off the tab power
shut it down
wait for few mins and then turn it back on
search for the wireless1 ssid and then try to connect
I note on the tablet security it's saying WPA/WPA2 PSK which is different to laptop
you will have to change that
what is the encryption type on the laptop
then change the encryption type to AES on the tab
I've tried doing that it won't let me change the security.
cannot get text box up
what is the version of android you have on the tab
it's a Samsung Galaxy
check the version in the settings >>> about phone you will see the version there
i am working on it bear with me for few mins
in the setting go to wifi and let me know how many ssids you have in the list
remove all of them one by one.
let me know once the list is empty
ok just a sec
have done that, but one's just popped up
hit the scan button and let it search for available wirless network
but that is not the one you are trying to connect
wireless1 must be there in the scan
scan the computer and see how many wireless networks it can detect
it does not appear to be doing anything
if the wifi is in range it will definately detect
try to scan on your laptop and let me know how many are in range
Should I try re-entering Wireless 1?
wireless1 must be in the search result when you scan
entering manually will not help as its not in range\
ok, but I'm getting nothing to say that it's actually scanning
let me know the scan result on your laptop firts
ok - bit of a juggling act going on here
its very simple take your time
on laptop it is showing just wireless 1 and a couple of other (I presume neighbours)
ok..so one that it shows as connected to is wireless 1
is that correct
now scan for wireless network on your tab
it doesn't appear to be able to locate wireless 1, yet I'm easily within range of the router.
if the tab detects wireless1 then only you can enter the password ***** if its not detecting that means the tab is not in range or the router is shifted elsewhere it was in range earlier
are you able to detect any other wireless network on the tab
not at the moment, it doesn't appear so
though our old friend Arifunal keeps popping on and off!!!
is it likely that the tablet could have a fault?
if it is not that means there is no wireless router within the range to confirm that you can carry the and check you can take the tab to a wireless zone like Macdonalds or other places when you have free hotspot there you can test the tab
if the tab detect wireless network and connect successfully then it means the tab is good and the wireless1 is out of range that is the only reason you are not getting wifi on the tab.
I've been thinking that maybe I should test it where free wifi is normally available, then we can go on from there
Something I cannot do today unfortunately.
not a problem you can try free hotspot whenever you have time however we have tried all possibilities and my conclusion is that the wireless network is not in the range for the tab that is the only reason.

Hi Michelle - just to let you know that the problem with my Samsung tablet appears to have resolved itself. I was able to connect to another wifi router in our area, and upon return home, the tablet had no problem picking up our site router again. It appears to be functioning fine now.
Thanks for your help in trying to resolve this 'mystery'.
