Hello there. I believe I can help you with this project. I am on California time so I will give you an update at around 8 pm London time.

thank you very much i look forward to hearing from you

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

hi was just writing to know if there was any updates on this ?

Hi, I am working on it. I will have updates for you tonight(Pacific Standard Time) - so early morning London time.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

ok thank you very much, also could i ask of you to comment on the code saying what you have done to achieve said task and critic it a bonus will be given for your time.

I have the following questions for you:
1. Is the deadline the 24th of January? Because I doubt I'll have enough time to finish it by then(part 3.1).
2. Task 1.1 refers to a file sda1.dsk. You have not provided this file. Without it there isn't much I can do.
3. Task 2.1 talks about using to test the changes. That file is also not provided.

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Hi i will on need 1.1 to 2.1 done for january the 24th

i asked my friend about 2.1 he said this" the test is just so if you run that it will run through all of them"

And for 1.1 to 1.3 i have to test on my uni website upload page so i can give you the link and details to that so it can be uploaded to see if it works

here is the link

User name is ei26 Password XXXXX XXXXX

hope that helps

I would still need to have the file sda1.dsk which essentially represents the virtual FAT drive that needs to be loaded for the purposes of that project. It was not included in the zip file.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

the virtual FAT drive or sda1.dsk is on the Charon system which is a program already running that you cant see which is the link i sent you you have to login with my details and upload the code you have done to test to see if it works

i hope that makes sense

so when you login go to upload panel click that then it comes up with submit exercise type in 1.1 copy paste the code you have done for that and it will either come up as well done or and error message.

So let me see if I understand this correctly. That system contains both the sda1.dsk as well as all the necessary classes in the classpath so when I paste the code in the submit window it should run without complaining about dependencies?
I will give it a try and let you know. I assume submitting the exercise solution multiple times should not affect your score since that is the only way to test the solution, correct?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

yes confusing i know but that's my teacher for you and no it wont effect my score once you have uploaded it you can uploaded it again which will rewrite the previous upload till you get it correct.

Just wanted to keep you posted on where I am with this. I just completed task 1.1 , almost done with 1.2 and expect to have everything done by tonight. What time do you need the completed project by? (since it is almost the 24th in the UK right now.)
Also, check this out:

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

i need it done by 8.00 in the morning UK time but if you have nearly completed it you could submit it for me and send me over the files afterwards if that was quicker ?

and if you can do that as I'm not sure.

and thanks for the link i will do that.

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Hi im off to bed as i have an exam in the morning at 8.00 so if you could upload them to the website i provided that would be great thanks

Hi, 1.1 and 1.2 have been completed and submitted. I haven't been able to complete the remaining because the sda1.dsk contents appeared to be inconsistent( the expected output did not match the actual contents) so it took me a while to troubleshoot that. In the end it seems that the issue was corrected (I don't know if your professor was working on fixing the problem while I was trying to submit the project. if you get an extension I can complete the remaining tasks.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

I've got till 11.59 tonight uk time if you can do it by then a bonus will be given

ok, I'll continue working on it.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

thank you so much

I just submitted 1.3
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Thanks for letting me know just 2.1 now :) again thank you for doing this

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Hi i was just wanting to know if you have done 2.1 as the deadline is in 53 minutes

I only have the read method done:

public int open( String name, int flags, int mode )
DEBUG.trace("<<< open : open(\"%s\",%04o,%04o)", name, flags, mode);

for ( int i=0; i<C.DIR_ENTRIES; i++ )
Directory de = readEntryDir( i );

* check if this is the file we are looking for
// allocate a file descriptor for this file
int fd = allocateFD();
if ( fd == C.NO_ITEM )
return C.ENFILE;

openTable[fd].dirPos = i; // Remember directory pos
openTable[fd].curPos = 0; // Current pos in file
openTable[fd].bytes = de.getBytes(); // Bytes in file (total)
openTable[fd].curBlock =C.DATA_START;

return fd;

return C.EACCES;

There isn't enough time to finish the remaining.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
