My question involves getting some photo-upload software installed

This answer was rated:

My question involves getting some photo-upload software installed - my aim is to put a photo-upload box on the form page. The help I need is just some guidance on getting the programme running on my computer for testing the free try-out version. The installation instructions involve using Windows Explorer IIS server.  I uninstalled Wamp and tried to get IIS running but  don't seem to have got it right.

UniversalUploader installation
UniversalUploader  installation is easy. In most cases you should simply extract distribution package
to a folder on your web server. Here is the detailed description of installation process for
ASP.NET (IIS server) and PHP (IIS and Apache servers): Extract UniversalUploader distribution package
on the web server: For Windows: Open Windows Explorer IIS server's root folder (by default it is c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\).
For Linux Apache: open the default webserver root folder, something like /usr/local/apache/htdocs.
Extract UniversalUploader zip archive to a newUniversalUploaderfolder inside the root folder.
We use the root and the name as default in this manual, but you can use any name for the folder or place it
into another root.Check permissions for destination upload folder . By default UploadedFiles subfolder.
For example for PHP script (default in all samples) default desctination folder is
"FileProcessingScripts\PHP\UploadedFiles" folder. For Windows OS : By default, PHP application works under
IUSR_<MACHINENAME> user. By default ASP.NET application works under NETWORK SERVICE user in IIS6 and IIS7
(or under ASPNET user in IIS5). You can find which user is used for web applications in IIS management console.
You should set NTFS "Write", "Modify", "Read and execute", "Read", "List folders content" permissions for that
user to the "UploadedFiles" folder. For *nix OS: set read and write permissions on destination folder.
Open http://localhost/UniversalUploader/index.html link in a browser to see some samples. Now you ready to integrate
UniversalUploader into your own web page. Note! When you integrate uploader into your web site, you will need
to get universal folder from distribution package and one of file processing scripts from FileProcessingScripts folder.

My Name is***** will be helping you today. If I provide good service, you may ask for The-PC-Guy in your question title for your future needs.

I can help you install either, I have used both. It will involve setting up a remote session, where I can connect to your computer and help you install the software. Personally I think WAMP is eaiser to install, but you cant have both WAMP and IIS on the computer it is one or the other.

After I help you with that, we can work on the upload form as a separate question.

Hello Andrew

I can install wamp easily enough. I will uninstall ISS then and get back to you in 10 mins to help me with the uploader

um ok, but there are configuration changes we will have to make to WAMP also so we will still need to do the remote at some point.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

OK, I have removed ISS and reinstalled Wamp 2.5. I couldn't see any htdocs but have put a htdocs folder containing all the uploader files straight into the main wamp folder. What next?

can we set up a remote session?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

OK, but I've no idea how

download and install the free teamviewer app

when you run it, you will get a 9 digit code and password ***** the allow remote control box, I will need that info. Do not paste it here directly but instead

type the info there, they will then give you a link

paste that link here.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

privnote currently timing out

i'm just worried about sercurity is all.

if you wish to send me info another way, I could offer you an additional service on this site, it will cost an additional $49. this will cover my time for the remote support plus helping you to get the form working with upload. I was hoping to do this as separate questions though, to first help you get the wamp installed.

The other option is for you to paste the info here, but that is not secure.

How do you want to proceed?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

You can view the info here

I'm not sure if the teamviewer installed properly - it was asking for the partners id to complete.

I will add a good tip at the end so don't worry

whatever link you gave me doesn't have anything.

in team viewer you should see where it says

Your ID-

I need the info from those boxes
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Its definitely there on - I can see it top left corner.

I've stipped out the red bg now.

i got that, and that is the correct info

however, teamviewer is not running on your computer.

Make sure it is running, it will show in the taskbar if it is.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

It seems to require a partner's ID before it will run

My email is *****@******.***

no it doesn't require partner id.

The application should just be running, and open on your taskbar
its running now, but the password *****

make sure I have the correct password
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Must be result of what I last told you.

Go to

this is not working

please just paste from the id box here

and then paste from the password ***** here
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

A box keeps coming up saying my question is now open to all experts when I send you stuff. I'm worried that 100's of tech guys will get in my pc.

I hear you. But it may just say that because the way it works on my end is that there is a timer, It doesn't mean the question is opened, it just means you haven't replied yet. The other option is to send an offer for additional service, I can make it like $10 or something. That will create a private box here, so you can communicate only with me.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Here's a private box for you:

p/w zoots4ahoot

I'll send you the code in 5 minutes to that address

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

OK its sent but please delete when copied

ok that got ****** out for your protection.

Let me send you an offer of additional service this will make life easier
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

OK, do that please

offer sent. When this is done, you will see 2 text boxes on this site,

the first is the regular one, the one beneath that is the private one, type the info there and only I would see it.
The-PC-Guy and other Programming Specialists are ready to help you
ok, see where the 2nd box is to enter private info

type the team viewer id and password ***** so only I can see it
do you see how to do that?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I put the info in the small box several minutes ago

I just typed a number in the small box, do you see it?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

very odd. I am following the sites instructions exactly.

I am sorry this is such an involved processes.

Do you mind if we resume this later, I am going to contact the site to see if I can get it straightened out.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes ok thanks - they have taken funds for the service so it should work

i agree
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Shutting down for 2-3 hrs now. Hope to carry on later.
