Customer Question

Hi, I've recently changed and upgraded my laptop to one with Windows 8 (my previous laptop was windows vista) and now when I connect my Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive I can't get it to work. The hard drive encryption menu states 'No Devices Detected... please insert a supported external device'. Is this because of Windows 8? I've tried downloading various driver updates but hasn't solved my problem. Is there anything else I can try?

A number of people on various forums seem to have had the same issue. Some have had success using this driver:

Let me know if that works, if not I'll investigate further.

Hi, I've tried the driver you've suggested but it hasn't fixed my problem I'm afraid. Basically, the same issue still exists that I get a message saying that 'No Supported Device is connected'. Any further suggestions will be greatly received.

Hi Richard,

I've been in touch with Lenovo who provide online support for the Iomegas drives and unfortunately they said that this drive and associated utilities are not supported on Windows 8 and their only recommendation is to downgrade to Windows 7 if you need to use it.

Sorry it's not better news.
