How can I find out if my computer will take Windows 8.1 as I currently have XP and it is finishing and how do I find 'upgrade assistant', please?

Hello Penny! Thank you for your question. I am a licensed computer professional with over ten years of experience, and I will be assisting you today.

I'm sorry about the issue. You can click on the website below to download and run the windows 8 / 8.1 upgrade assistant:
More details if you need:

By the way, even if windows 8 / 8.1 works on your old windows xp computer, it can be slower as the windows xp computer hardware is old, and there may still be some compatibility issues, i.e., some older hardware devices, such as printers, and some older software may not work with windows 8 / 8 .1, so you might have to purchase new hardware and/or software also.

However, even when Microsoft stops supporting windows xp next month, your windows xp computer will still be working fine (it's just that microsoft won't make any update for it any more.) But all you need is to make sure your antivirus/security program working, then you are fine.

Please click on the Reply to Expert tab below, and reply back to me, so I can help further if there is still any issue. Thank you,

Hi Viet

Thank you for the good news. Does this mean that my full AVG protection means that I am sufficiently protected if I carry on using XP, please?

You're welcome. That's correct; having AVG full protection is sufficient. You can use your windows xp computer as long as it lasts. Thank you
