Just to bring you up to date.
The system had settled down soon after your efforts with Talk-Talk and the Talk-Talk engineer came yesterday and was here for 1.5 hours.
He tried a new router which didn’t work.
Then he tried another new one which also didn’t work.
He then reverted to the old router which did work o.k., so he decided to leave well alone.
The router lost internet connection just as he was about to leave and he installed one of the new routers but not via cable, so I am still with the Wi-Fi and I’ve kept the old router.
Telephone line is o.k. Checked by both Talk-Talk and B.T.
The Engineer thought there might be too much connected to the ‘phone line (I have a fax and extension phone)
Talk-Talk originally wanted me to buy a new router as the guarantee had run out so they only sent a new cable which a local computer engineer fitted which didn’t solve the problem. In fact something had broken in the back of the computer to do with the LAN cable. It resulted in me having to buy a new computer over a year ago.
They then fitted the Wi-Fi and all was o.k. at the time.
I've been leaving the router switched on all the time now and all appears o.k.
