HiI have an Acer Iconia tablet and want to watch movies

I have an Acer Iconia tablet and want to watch movies but stream to my sony smart tv. The movie plays fine on my tablet but it won't upload to my tv via wireless, just get an playback error message. Do I need an HDMI cable?

Hello my name is***** look forward to assisting and am very sorry to hear that you are having this problem.
The TV would only be able to playback properly over wireless using something like a DLNA server (Plex is an example of a free one).

Those however do not normally work very well on tablets so a HDMI cable would be better.
