Hello! I am IT Miro and I will assist you on this question.

Did Apple Mail work before, or this is the first time you want to check your TalkTalk account with it?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes Apple mail did work before, and once in a blue moon I get an email on my iCloud a/c but talk talk will not send or receive

So, to confirm, you cannot both receive and send e-mails, but if you go to the TalkTalk web interface (, you can successfully log in and see your e-mails there?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Yes I can send and receive emails on webmail.

Apple Support asked me to ask talk talk for settings for email a/c.

that is all I want really.

My name is ***** *****.email *****@******.***.I was told to use iMAP

incoming settings, incoming port 143. No authentication method and no to SSL

I was told to use SMTP for outgoing and port 587 .No to SSL

and no authentication type

I do not know what else to do for help

Those settings are correct. The problem seems to be on TalkTalk's end since there is a warning on their web page that some customers are experiencing issues when connecting with their e-mail clients (such as Apple Mail).

See this:

Did TalkTalk say anything about that?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

thank you,can I now click on the link you have provided without losing you?

talk talk did not say anything to me on the phone.other than what I have told you

I wait to see if I can click on the link,OK

Sure, the link will open in a new browser window so you won't lose me.

To fully test if this is really TalkTalk's problem with accessing the e-mail account using an e-mail client, please tell me if you have any other device (computer, mobile phone, tablet) which you can use to attempt to add your TalkTalk account in order to check if the same problem will happen there as well?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I have visited the link and see there may be problems.

I do not have any other devices I wish to set up an email a/c on.

I think I will go back to Apple Support with the info if I cannot overcome the difficulties .

Are you now going to take £42.00 from my a/c?or what happens now,

I must go to bed now.

Well, Apple support won't be able to help if the problem is on TalkTalk's end, you need to contact them again and ask when the issue will be resolved. It is most likely a temporary problem, so you don't need to make any changes to your Apple Mail program since the settings are correct there.

not 100% happy with the answers, you told me the settings were right and you told me talk talk had connection troubles and you told me that Apple could not help, but hurray THEY seem to have solved the matter after over and hour on the phone.

I do hope I do not have to pay for anything more I just logged on to just answer with my difficulty, and you tried to help.

Hi again!

I suggested you to contact TalkTalk since there is a message on every TalkTalk help page saying:

"Issues accessing your email
Our engineers have identified that some customers are having issues accessing their email account. This isn't affecting the actual emails, which are still being delivered correctly..."

I am not sure if TalkTalk did something on their end or not, but I am glad your problem is now resolved.

Do you remember what Apple support suggested you to do?
