I want to download kindle app for firefox. didn't work on email or mobile phone. (Help, I am 75!)
Hi! You will need to download the app from the app store on your phone and not through the browser. What make/model phone do you have?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

It is a very old phone I hardly use it I wanted the app on my computer. I also did not expect to be charged £28 instantly.

So you would like the app on your computer? What operating system are you using?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Linux Firefox. The app is supposed to work on it. I think £28 is a lot of money. Am I being ripped off?

The easiest way to read on a Linux based system is by going here: Sign into your account and read

It doesn't work. I get a message in the email to click to get the link but it brings me back to the space asking me for the email. I have done it many times. My wife and I share the computer and she has Kindle cloud on it. I can't get that or the kindle reading app, so I can't read my kindle books on this computer.

Does your wife use Linux?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Yes. We each have our own Amazon account. I have a Kindle but I wanted to put its books on this computer. I think that ought to be possible. She had just a kindle app on her old Vista which is no more, and couldn't get it on Ubuntu until she heard about the Kindle Cloud. I thought I could do the same but when I couldn't I tried the Kindle app but it doesn't work.

The link that I gave you is the path to use the Kindle cloud reader. There is another option available that is more complicated: You would need to download Wine which allows Windows based applications to run on Linux. Wine can be found here:
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Well that is not much good because she had frightful trouble trying to download Adobe Digital Editions for her Sony reader, and that's why she got the Kindle Cloud. It does seem to work on this computer. ADE needed wine and it didn't work. It is now late and I'm giving up. Thanks for trying. It's not your fault! We like Ubuntu but its just not sufficiently like other systems in some ways. Could it be that Amazon won't let us have 2 clouds or apps on one computer, even though we have separate Amazon accounts?

I think I have wasted a lot of your time. I'm sorry. I think you have earned your money. I don't need to read my books on this computer. Goodnight.

No, the issue is with Linux based operating systems. Amazon products work great with Mac or Windows based but they just do not have the same support for Linux.
