I am trying to burn a dvd with the program 'DVD

Customer Question

Hello, I am trying to burn a dvd with the program 'DVD Flick'. It is a 60 mins family video. My first attempt didn't work, so I converted the video from .VOB to .MPEG, as I thought this may have been the problem. So with my second attempt, I have put the dvd into the dvd player and it did play but the image was not clear/good quality like the original is, and it only had 30 mins of the video.. so only half of the video. The blank DVD's I'm using say: 8x/4.7Gb/sp 120 mins. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong?

Hello and thank you for using this service,

Are you willing to use a different method or program to create this DVD? I'm asking , because it may be required , as "DVD flick" may not work correctly given your video files from your camera.

Yes, that will be fine. It is a video I uploaded from a dvd, not a camera though. Thanks

Thanks for the information.

Please be specific as to what you are doing there. Are you trying to take individual videos from different DVD's and put them onto one DVD? If not, then tell me in detail what you have and what you are trying to accomplish.

Also, I need to know about these source DVD's of the videos you are using. Are they also standard DVD Video DVD's?

I have a DVD of a family wedding, it is DVD-R disc and about 60 mins long. It is a standard DVD and it says on it: DVD-R, Multi speed 18x, 4.7 GB/120min.

A friend has put this DVD in my laptop and transferred the video to my laptop, so now it is a file on my laptop. It is .VOB format.

I downloaded the program 'DVD Flix' so I can burn this video file onto a blank DVD-R. The blank DVD I have says on it: 8x/4.7Gb/sp 120 mins

My first attempt didn't work, so I downloaded a program to convert the video file to a .VOB to a .MPEG.

My second attempt using the .MPEG version of this video file did work and play in my dvd player, but was bad quality and only was 30 mins of the whole video - though it says it's a 120 mins disk.

Sorry for the delay. Some sort of trouble accessing your question here.

It sounds like you have the VOB files, but not the folder structure for this DVD. There are several programs that can help you to "author" this DVD and create it. Also, you aren't going to want to convert or transcode your vob files, because then you will lose quality.

I would first try this with a program called imgburn. You should be able to directly download from this link i created for you:

Click the link to download. then save, download, and run.

Once you have imgburn installed, checkout the following link with some instructions and pictures of the process. Basically, you are going to be selecting the VOB files for imgburn to put in the proper folder structure, and then burn to disc.

As always, I am available for follow up on this question until you are satisfied both before AND after rating my help.

I am sorry I have not had a chance to reply sooner.

I have tried downloading the program you recommended through your link, but my virus protection AVG blocks the program from running. I have now been left with a program called 'AcradeTwist' that I can't uninstall.

I go to control panel, uninstall programs but when I click on the program and click uninstall - nothing happens. What should I do about this?

Also as I cannot use this program is there another program you could please recommend? Thank you

That is strange, as I sent the most direct link for downloading. I suspect you got sidetracked when your AVG made a false positive on that. It is best to temporarily disable your antivirus when this happens. Please try this site instead. I just tested it, and it works well for me, with no false positives from antivirus. Just go to link below, then click on the GREEN button on the left side that says DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION (3.31). Then download, save, and follow instructions. this does not work, I am sending you an offer for remote services, where I can remote to your computer , and do this work for you.
