I am only a learner on buying books I have selected 4 books and confirmed my purchase but they have not appeared in my nook library

This is usually an issue with the Firmware, so I would first like you to do this please.
Remove the charger from the Nook and hold the power button to off for 35 seconds.
Release, then connect the charger and turn on the Nook and tell me please if your books now appear.

I did as you suggested but it did not work. I forgot to say that I placed the orders on my laptop and not my nook

yes but some time ago, but I have ordered a book tonight and it has appeared

ok, then if the books are appearing then everything in the setup wwould be ok, the order may not have gone through.
If you go back into your account, do you see on your account the books are actually purchased?

I have sussed it out and I am re imputing the books through my nook and that should solve my dilemma many thanks for your help
