I have a HP USB-c to VGA adapter and was working fine but now stopped working. checked cable from monitor on another computer which doesn't need adapter and it works so its got to be the adapter.
JA: What HP model do you have? And the Operating System (OS)?
Customer: spectre
JA: How long has this been going on with your computer? What have you tried so far?
Customer: all working great until yesterday.
JA: Anything else you want the Computer Expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: tried monitor cable to another computer without adapter and worked, tried power cable in the ports and worked, so adapter seems to be the issue

Basic display output adapters contains IC chips which converts serial data from a USB port to parallel data signal to the VGA.

And some are prone to damage under high temperature or sudden power spikes.

I am sorry but according to your description, your adapter has failed.

You can try connecting the adapter to a different port of your computer to make sure of it.
