It is my WD passport external drive. It will not recognise

It is my WD passport external drive. It will not recognise my files. Suddenly uninitialized itself and I don't want to lose my files by re initialising
JA: What computer or device are you having trouble syncing?
Customer: I am not trying to sync, I am trying to I retrieve my files from an uninitialised external hard drive
JA: What's the brand, model, and Operating System (OS) of your computer?
Customer: Windows 10
JA: What have you tried so far with your computer?
Customer: Plugged in, u ninstalled, back in...will show the drive but no access. I Need to initialise but cant risk losing the files, which initialising will wipe out
JA: Anything else you want the Microsoft Office Expert to know before I connect you?

Please disconnect the power cable to the computer then hold the power button in for 60 seconds then release.
Then connect the power cable, power it on and tell me how it now functions.
Please let me know the results.

It still won’t recognise the files on the external drive. Say I need to intialise

Can you please right click start and choose Disk Management.

Then click the disk there then click initialize

Let me know if it then functions please
