I lost half the amount of hair that I had as a side effect

Customer Question

I lost half the amount of hair that I had as a side effect of keppra. I have been off it for aprx 6 months now. I am asking will my hair grow back. Or has keppra killed the hair follicles. As well is there anything a dermotolgist can prescribe me to help grow my hair back

I've been working hard to find a Professional to assist you with your question, but sometimes finding the right Professional can take a little longer than expected.

I wonder whether you're ok with continuing to wait for an answer. If you are, please let me know and I will continue my search. If not, feel free to let me know and I will cancel this question for you.

Thank you,

Hi there,
I am Mysticdoc, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to help you with your concerns.

I am sorry to hear that.
You hair will grow back gradually but may take months.
Keppra related side effects will gradually subside.
In the meantime, Minoxidil topical lotion ( Rogaine) can be used daily to promote hair growth.
THis is available over the counter.
Another option is to consider local steroid injection in the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
THis is performed by a dermatologist.
You should consider seeing a dermatologist to discuss these good options.

Best wishes
