My daughter has a small blister (0.7cm diameter) on the sole

Customer Question

My daughter has a small blister (0.7cm diameter) on the sole of one foot, but it is more of a light green pus colour. It is very painful to walk on. Can you advise if this is likely to be a fungal problem.

This is Dr. David

I am sorry about your daughter.

the pus is a sign of bacterial infection

it could even be an abscess

she needs to see a doctor or a podiatrist to get her food blister evaluated.

she needs a wound culture to see what bacteria is growing out of the wound.

she most likely will need a course of antibiotics to help the wound heal.

if that doesn't help, she might need to see wound care nurses

and use silvadine or manuka honey or thick duoderm dressings on the area to help the blister heal.

she can see a doctor at the ER or the urgent care centers as well.

I would see a doctor as soon as possible so the infection doesn't get better.

let me know if you have questions.
