Hi I'm a 30 year old female iv had this problem for a while were i have this burning/scalding feeling at the top of my left thigh just below my bum, I work in an office were I sit all day so this can become very uncomfortable but just bearable. Iv also noticed that I can get a very distinctive smell after a while sitting when the bottom half of my body becomes warm which I find very unpleasant and very embarrassing. I have seen a GP in the past about this although as there didn't seem to be a rash they discarded it as being a skin problem. Iv got to a point were I am at my wits end and just want to get to the bottom of it or have some kind of idea who to turn to I really hope you could shine some light on this.

Hi. Sorry for the delay

Any rash or redness associated with this?

No there doesn't seem to be a rash
OK--any back pain at all and do you have any other medical conditions?

No back pain and no medical conditions

OK--we can continue after this if you'd like.

I don't think this is a skin nor a dermatologic problem if there's no rash.

This sounds like a neuropathy--an inflamed or irritated nerve problem.

While it could be from a disk problem in your lumbar spine it could also be from a more systemic problem like diabetes, magnesium or vitamin B12 deficiency, or perhaps an autoimmune neuralgia condition.

I suggest you ask your doctor for an MRI of your lumbar spine and get blood work to check for the other possibilities. And one doesn't have to have back pain to have symptoms from a herniated disk.
