I have got itchy, scabby scalp. The thick white scabs are attached to the hair, what is it, and what can I do?  Also my hair is falling out fast.  Please help me?   Many Thanks Kirsty

H8 Kirsty and sorry for the delay

This sounds like tinea capitis--a fungal infection of your scalp.

You can try Selsun Blue shampoo and over the counter lotrisone cream but if those don't help after a week or so you'll need to see a doctor for prescription ketoconazole cream or oral Diflucan

Let me know if you need more information please

Thankyou very much, I will try your recommendations, and let you know how I get on.

What causes the fungal infection?

Kind Regards

Kirsty White

It just happens Kirsty--doesn't signify a systemic medical problem.

Let me know how it goes and please remember to rate my service to you

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Do I rate you now, or wait to see if there is any results with the Selsun shampoo, that I have used?

Kind Regards

You can rate me know Kirsty and this page will still be open.

I think the shampoo will work for you, although it may take two weeks of using it

Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Been on the shampoo for 9 days now, I can carry on with that, but my hair is falling out terribly, please, please help me, I do anything to stop it, so willing to try anything.

The white, flaky scabing hasn't improved yet, but I haven't completed the shampoo, so will give it chance to work.

I will wait for your reply

Kind Regards

Kirsty--you need to take vitamin A and E supplements in addition to using the shampoo
