This answer was rated:

Hello I have sensitive skin with acne but that was fine I was using vitamin c cream in the morning and retinoic acid at night without issues. However I used glycolic acid last night - with vitamin c and zinc solution in the morning - my skin did start burning but I was at work so only was able to remove it a few hours later. My face is still burning now and has reddish marks like the chemical peel burn. Please can you advice me on what to do urgently so I don’t get scars and pigmentation

Hi there,
I am an experienced Medical Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

I am sorry to hear that.

You should wash your face well with soap water to remove glycolic acid completely--you are likely allergic to it.

You can apply a thin layer of hydrocortisone 1% ointment to reduce the burning and redness.

You may need to apply every 8 hours for next 2-3 days.

Once the burning subsides, you may resume using retinoic acid.

Aloe vera gel is natural option which can be applied to help with the burning and redness.
