I have a sore pink oval patch approx 25 by 15mm on my back

Customer Question

Hi - I have a sore pink oval patch approx 25 by 15mm on my back which I have had for a few years now that itches sparodically and is sore when rubbed with a towel;
JA: When did the itchiness first appear? Have you used any medication for this?
Customer: I have tried steroid cream from a Pharmacist at Boots for a week daily morning & night, I did actually get this patch slightly burnt in the sun this weekend and my partner has told me it has got redder
JA: Got it. Have you seen a dermatologist about the itchiness?
Customer: no
JA: Thank you so much for your time. Finally, is there anything else in your medical history you think the Dermatologist should know?
Customer: no eczema generally but this patch has been with me for several years now - I am 61 years old

Thank you for the pics.

The pic. are not very clear due to poor lighting and focus.

There is inflammation, but no infection.

No antibiotics are required.

Kindly do the following.

1) Take Fexofenadine 120mg daily once.

2) First try using OTC Hydrocortisone twice daily for a week, and see if it heals.

3) If it does not, use Eumovate twice daily for 5 days.

4) Avoid sunlight as much as possible.

5) Use moisturizers and vaseline to prevent it from drying.

6) Bathe or shower in lukewarm water. Avoid hot water.

7) If painful, use Advil.

Please let me know if this was helpful.
