This looks like an cyst. How long has this been present? Is it getting any bigger? Is it painful?

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
I have had it for months I took antibiotics but it didn’t clear it up. It’s hard and itchy. When I put warm cloth on it. It gets smaller.
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

I would suggest an ultrasound scan to check what it is. If it is a cyst, it can be removed.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Why a ultrasound?
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Can I use any cream?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

To check what it is.

Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

I do not think a cream will treat this if there is something beneath the skin like a cyst causing it. Has your GP seen this?

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Yeah they have and they said it’s a cyst. They gave me antibiotics but it didn’t help.
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Another doctor said it’s a ingrown hair also
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
But it’s not going
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

Okay, so a cyst is beneath the skin, it is not effected by a topical cream. It could be from a follicle, therefore if ongoing and it bothers you, you have have the removed.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Can they drain it? And does it look like a bad cyst?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

Yes, but using a needle often results in it refilling.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Can I just keep using a warm cloth on it? With tea tree oil? It goes smaller then gets bigger again.
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

You could try a cloth, I wouldn't use tea tree oil, they can get bigger and smaller.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Shal I use it on it everyday?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

If you like, I do not think it will do very much though.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
How come my doctor hadn’t suggested it being removed? I have seen 2 doctors now. And they just gave me antibiotics.
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

Because if it is infected and inflamed, that wouldn't be the first option, only if it persists. After an infection they can start to resolve, so worth watching and waiting for a few months to see what happens.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
That’s a picture of it now? So do you think the next step is removal?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

It if continues, then yes, but for a cyst you do not need to do anything if it doesn't bother you.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
I just have to live with it?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

You can do, yes.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Do a lot of people live with them?
Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Can I put hydrocortisone on it?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

Yes, they can do. Hydrocortisone is for inflammation of the skin. If it is still inflamed then this may help.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Does it look harmful?
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

Not at all, no.

Customer: replied 14 days ago.
Ok that’s good
Expert:  Dr Baker replied 14 days ago.

All the best.
