Can you remove the battery and memory from the camera and wait 10 minutes.

Then put the battery and original memory card (that worked before) in the camera and tell me if it still errors please.

Thank you

I have tried your suggestion, but still no change - shows card error

Thanks Colin

Look inside the memory component, where the card goes in and check the pins.

Are any of these bent in the slightest way?

They all look straight

Thanks Colin

We are going to reset the camera to rule out the firmware as the issue.

To do this

Select P on the mode dial.

Open the card door and turn on the camera.

Hold down the Menu and the OK buttons at the same time for 5 seconds.

Olympus E-510 is displayed.

Release and again hold down the Menu and the OK buttons at the same time for another 5 seconds.

Reset has been done is displayed

Press the OK button.

Shut the camera off

Then tell me if it will now read the card please

Thank you

Regret still shows card error

Thanks Colin

It is the internal card reader that has faulted. The port that actually reads the card

A corrupted firmware can cause this. But we have ruled this out by restarting it. We also know you are using the correct card, and that the card is not faulty.

I am really sorry about this and you are going to have to return the camera to have it replaced. It is a known problem, and will be covered by the warranty if this has not expired, with the replacement performed at no cost to you.

I am really sorry about this, and if you have problems, or would like any additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

And if you can take a second to rate my service, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
