I purchased an EF 75-300mm lens for my EOS 600D. When I go to take a photo the shutter release is not firing or I get err 01 Communications between lens & camera is faulty. What is solution if any?
Hi David, did you get Canon lens, or another brand?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Canon 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III USM

Okay, good. That's a great lens.
There is a set of metal contacts on the camera body and on the lens. Clean both sets with a cloth damp with a bit of Klinex.
Then try again please.

no joy still getting err 01

Ok. Do you have other lens, and do they work properly?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

yes i tried my EF-S lens it worked grand

Very good. It's a very simple thing really, you got a bad lens. There is a small electronics board inside the lens that the camera can control, and in your lens it is defective. It happens with a small percentage of new lens.

Simply have the lens replaced, as your camera is fine.
