i have a new canon mg3650. Sometimes it prints faint. Sometimes it doesn't, then it prints perfectly. I have tried switching on and off, and holding down the orange button for 10 seconds.
Please don't tell me that the inks are running out, as it can print 5 sheets very faint (but consistently and evenly) and then it will return to correct printing.

Hi there and welcome

I want you please to clean the print head on the printer

To do this

Make sure that the power is turned on.
Hold down the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes orange twice, then release it immediately.
The machine starts cleaning the print head.
The cleaning will be complete when the ON lamp lights green after flashing.
Do not perform any other operations until the machine completes the cleaning of the print head. This takes about 1 to 2 minutes.

Once done, tell me how the printing now looks please.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

filemaker has issues with printing in El Capitan - it constantly crashes on print

Power off the mac

Then start the Mac and hold down the Command and R keys at startup.

Hold these keys until the Apple logo appears. After your computer finishes starting up, you should see a desktop with an OS X menu bar and an OS X Utilities window

choose Disk Utility from the Utilities window, or from the Installer menu if you're started from an installation disc.

Click the First Aid tab.

Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.

Select your Startup Disk (usually named "Macintosh HD").

Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.

Let this complete and when it has, tell me if you still have the problem please.
