Trying to set up to print photos from comp 5150. I load

hi trying to set up to print photos from comp 5150. I load paper into rear feeder as per instructions but the paper feed cover will not close tightly with paper loaded. when I press print the notebook screen comes on.
JA: What's the brand and model of your printer?
Customer: canon pixma 5150.
JA: How long has this been going on with your printer?
Customer: new printer. set every thing else up but having any joy with this

ok, when you go to print, make sure the canon printer is selected, not one note then try to print
