My dog gave birth to 7 puppies 12 hours ago and has started to whelp again like she is in labour what do I do? I like she may still have an after birth in her?
This is Dr. Christian. I'd like to help but I have a few questions first.

How is she acting otherwise? (eating, drinking, active, etc.)
Is she actively pushing and has anything passed?
Are her gums a normal pink color?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
She is eating and drinking normal and her gums look pink she keeps panting! She is now not letting the puppies feed !! She was until about half hr ago
Is she pushing as if she is trying to pass another puppy or afterbirth?
Is this her first litter?
Can you take her rectal temperature with a digital thermometer?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
Hi her temp is 38.8 she was pushing a little while a go! About an hr ago !
Thank you for checking her temperature. That is a normal temperature for a dog. It is possible that she is trying to pass a placenta and some panting can be expected in those situations. Considering her litter size I would be surprised if she has an other puppy inside her. Her breed would typically only have between 3-5 puppies. It's okay to watch her for another hour or so but if she continues to try and push after that then I'd have her seen by a veterinarian if possible. If there is another puppy inside her then she may be too exhausted to give birth to it. All you can do right now is keep her in a quiet spot and minimize noise and stress as much as possible. Continue to offer plenty of water. It's okay if she stops nursing for a little while. The puppies will not be harmed if they do not nurse for a couple of hours. If she does have an afterbirth and cannot pass it then it can cause serious infections. However, a veterinarian can give her an injection to help it pass if needed.
