hi my 11 year old rottweiller has developed a limp in his right front leg and it has since got quite swollen on the top joint of his leg, he is not putting any weight on it and the shoulder bone seems deformed, what could this be he hasnt had an injury
Hello, my name is***** and I have over 20 years of experience as a veterinarian. I am very sorry to hear that your fellow Tyson is limping on his right front leg and has a swelling near the joint at the top of his leg.

With him being a large breed dog, his age, and his symptoms, I am very concerned that he may have a bone tumor in that leg. Other possible causes for swelling and lameness are a fungal or bacterial infection.
Arthritis, while painful and possibly causing lameness, should not cause such a prominent change in the bones of his leg.

I highly recommend that Tyson see his veterinarian as soon as possible for radiographs of the affected area and possibly a biopsy to determine the cause of his lameness. They can also prescribe pain medication to get him as comfortable as possible.
