Hi, looking for some advice. Have a 2 year old border terrier

Customer Question

Hi, looking for some advice. Have a 2 year old border terrier who isn't behaving normally. Seems to be unsettled although not severely so, but he is also shaking almost continuously. He has had mild diarrhoea for 24 hours, probably 4 times in total. He has also vommited twice which appears to be a clear liquid. He is also squatting as if trying to go to the toilet but isn't passing anything. He went for a run with me this morning and seemed ok, despite vommiting through the night. We have another Border terrier from the same litter who appears fine, so wer are not sure if he has eaten something from a bin. Is refusing to eat and will only drink tiny amounts of water if forced, i.e. licking from my fingers. Do you think this is an emergency situation or wait until monday. Would greatly appreciate any advice, thank you.

Hello Adam, I'm Dr. Deb.

I recently came online and see that your question about Alfie hasn't been answered. I'm so sorry that you've had to wait for a response, but if you still need assistance, I'd like to help if I can.

I do have a few questions to ask first, if you don't mind:

1. Can you tell me the color of his gums?
2. Any abdominal pain or discomfort?
3. Can you take his temperature?
4. He doesn't sound lethargic; would you agree?

There may be a slight delay after I receive your answers since I have to type up a response to you and I may be offline at the time you respond. But I'll get back to you as soon as I can since I'll have only stepped away for a short period of time.

Thanks for your patience. Deb
