My 2 1/2 year old male ***** ***** does excessive rolling

This answer was rated:

My 2 1/2 year old male ***** ***** does excessive rolling on his back. This is indoors, it is not really a problem for us but it seems very strange. This started as isolated incidents but is now really all the time. Any thoughts on this?
Dr. Barbara :

Hi, Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm a licensed veterinarian and I'll be happy to help. Excessive rolling like you are describing can come from itchy skin, from playfulness where he feels very comfortable, or from obsessive/compulsive disorder. The first step would be to rule out any itchy causes. Does he have inflamed skin? Do you see any sores on him? Does he have any fur loss especially in patches? Is he on a monthly flea preventative like Advantage or Frontline?

Thank you for your answer, I actually took him to a vet on Saturday and he does have fleas and irr

itation and he is now on flea treatment
