Dear Sirs, My girlfriend recently adopted a German shepherd

This answer was rated:

Dear Sirs,
My girlfriend recently adopted a German shepherd called Dina who is around 7 months. The German Shepherd has been diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy and has been previously receiving a high dose of vitamin b complex and dexamethasone.
Dina does have other issues as she is unable to walk. I would like to ask your advice and I do have copies of her x-rays.
Kind regards,
Hello, I am so sorry to hear about Dina. She has degenerative myelopathy, at only 7 months of age? I am a veterinarian, and will do my best to help.
If she has DM, degenerative myelopathy, steroids like dexamethasone do not usually help much. Can you post her Xrays here, or on the internet and send me the link?

I have attached the file

Thanks; I am trying to open it now.
Sorry! I had trouble opening the file, and had to get my husband to help.
These Xrays are of the chest, and the abdomen. I do not see anything wrong with the spine, but DM is a disease of the spinal cord, so Xrays are often normal.
How was DM diagnosed in her?
What are her symptoms?

I have attached a photo of Dina. The main symptoms are that she struggles to stand and walk. My girlfriend has been in contact with the animal shelter that informed her of Dina's condition.

Kind regards,

The Xrays do not tell me why she can't walk.
I have never seen DM in a dog this young. There are many other causes: hip dysplasia ( I can't see her hips in these Xrays), muscle and nerve conditions.
Let me know what you find out and what else I can help with.
