Other than apparent blindness, what other behaviors are you seeing that worry you?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
His coordination. He can't walk properly, he bangs his head aggressively on the floor which is a problem as we have lamanite flooring, I'm concerned because of his age he will damage his head permanently

OK. With all of these problems, I'm worried about an underlying neurologic problem (rather than a problem specifically with his eyes). In a small breed puppy like Norris, I worry about a liver abnormality called a portosystemic shunt.

I highly recommend having him evaluated by your local vet. I would start with a physical exam, blood testing (including bile acids testing), and then ultrasound.

Depending on what we find, if we confirm a portosystemic shunt (PSS), we can perform surgery is some dogs to resolve the problem.

He shows all signs that article. My next concern is the price of treatment, could you give me potential quote for price of treatment

That will depend greatly on what we find. If there is an extra-hepatic shunt, we would recommend surgery. Surgery costs will depend on region and could even vary hospital to hospital, but I would estimate between $2000-3500. If he has multiple shunts or intra-hepatic shunting, surgery may not be possible. In those cases, the greatest costs will be long term medications, prescription diet and monitoring blood work. The costs will vary greatly in this situation also, depending on what we find is necessary to keep his signs controlled. I would expect to spend a minimum of $60-70 per month for the diet and medications alone, and more when blood work is necessary.
