I'm sorry to hear of this with Poppy. You appear to be describing a complex partial seizure which is defined as focal or asymmetric sensory or motor activity which can be accompanied by autonomic signs (salivation, vomiting) and is accompanied by a change in consciousness and/or behavioral abnormalities. Intracranial (within the skull) etiologies such as brain tumor are more likely at Poppy's age than extracranial etiologies such as a poorly functioning liver which is intoxicating the brain.Poppy's vet will want to perform a thorough physical and neurologic exam. Diagnostics in the form of blood and urine tests are likely to be recommended in an attempt to identify an extracranial disorder that might be addressed in a conservative manner. Intracranial disorders are detected with MRI - not usually performed on dogs of Poppy's age. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish. May I have on update on Poppy, please?
