I'm really worried about my dog she has a lot of sores on her

Customer Question

I'm really worried about my dog she has a lot of sores on her body and now her legs are shaking at the back and her tail is under her bum n I tried to stroke her and she cried at bit. We have tried playin with her and saying "walkies" and she didn't move at all which is not like her at all. I really think it's her back legs.
She is a beautiful black Labrador cross Rottweiler aged 6.

Welcome to Justanswer! I am Dr. Altman and happy to assist you both today!I am so sorry to hear about Coley and the sores but especially her back legs. My primary concern is an injury to the back back causing rear leg weakness and tail tucking, not necessarily doing something like jumping off the furniture and crying out, they can be walking around the house and have a disc herniation because of their anatomy. Here is more information on this condition: Ideal is to have your veterinarian evaluate your dog to definitively diagnose the problem and start on appropriate medication to control the discomfort. Until you are able to do this please restrict activity (which often they are already doing themselves but that means no steps/ stairs and only carrying to go potty) and rotating warm and cool compresses on the back in ten minute intervals to reduce pain and increase blood flow. You can also do light circular massage up and down the back to stimulate blood flow if this is not too painful and will allow it. To aid getting her in the care please use a towel under her groin as a sling to support her but also when she needs to go out to go potty because she can injure herself further by slipping or falling when trying to move around on her own Please let me know if you have any additional questions I can assist with. I hope you are able to get your Lab one comfortable soon, truly. I am online another 20 minutes before exiting for about an hour to see patients but will return soon if I miss you to answer any additional questions you may have If you have more questions or if I can help in any other way, please do not hesitate to ask! I am sorry I cannot help with a phone call. The states/province I am licensed in do not allow me to communicate via phone calls, unless I have previously physically examined a pet. I could lose my license for doing so. If you would like I can opt out and see if there is another veterinarian that can make calls.I had already typed and sent the response when you asked for a live phone call....
