Hi my beagle ate a pair of tights Friday night. He did seem bloated but ate and drank as normal He's been fine and last night he was sick and tights came up. However he's been eating grass and being sick (water n saliva). He hasn't eaten all day and is just sleeping in his outdoor kennel. Bit worried about him really as not like him at all? Please advise
Hello,I am sorry to hear about your Beagle. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian with this website. Did all of the tights come back up? Long stretchy things like tights can cause intestinal blockages when swallowed whole. If they all were vomited back up, he should be OK. If you check his gums, are they bright pink in color, or do they look pale? If his gums look pale, or if he continues to vomit, I would be worried about there being a blockage in his intestines, or that eating the tights caused intestinal problems or pancreatitis Let me know how his gums look. Will he take any water? He could become dehydrated if he won't drink at all. Try to get him to take water, broth or ice chips.

Gums look ok. He drinks abit of water but then brings it up again! He's such a lively dog and he doesn't want to do anything. He has 2 walks a day and we even got lead out and he didn't care. Its like the life has been sucked out of him. What shall I do?
If he brings up even water, I would be taking an X-ray to check to see if there is an intestinal blockage. Good that his gums are not pale, but if he were mine I would be giving him fluids to prevent dehydration if he can't hold water down, and checking to be sure he does not have a blockage. I would also check for pancreatitis, a blood test,
How is he doing? Can I help with anything else? Was my answer helpful?

Hi Rebecca, sorry for late reply but my 5yr old is very unwell n I haven't slept properly since last Thursday! And I was up checking on Hugo most the night incase he got worse. Good news, he's drinking n keeping down and he greeted me with a wagging tail!! That was 7am, I gave him a little food n broth so he was drinking and so far so good. Infact he seems nearly himself as jumping at door! Thank you for your help n fingers crossed wen we feed him again properly tonight he's OK.Kids n pets are such a worry :-)
Sorry for your having problems with both your dog and you 5 year old. I am so glad to hear the dog is doing better! Must have just had some gastritis after the tights episode. Keep me updated and kindly consider rating my answer so the website knows I assisted you!
