I believe you are referring to Albumin, which is a major blood protein. Low levels of Albumin can be due to increased losses (though the urine or intestine in diarrhoea), decreased absorption in the intestine (due to Inflammatory bowel disease for example) or due to decreased production in the liver due to liver failure.

Have any urine tests been performed or anything else shown up on blood tests? Chris

Ok, do you know what the albumin level was? Also what was the reason for the blood test initially? Are any other symptoms present?
