Hello, you are through to Dr Linda, a UK based vet.

I appreciate your desire to help Dexter, but NO this is not an appropriate medicine.

Ibuprofen should never be given as it can be toxic, even at relatively low doses.

It is important he receives his regular canine specific medicine.

Ibuprofen can cause signs such as vomiting, gastric ulcer and kidney disease. Even small amounts can be dangerous and it is available in high mg strength tablets which are tricky to divide.

It is best to call your vet to ask for a repeat prescription of his regular medicine.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care!
