She had a temperature last week. Vet gave her antibiotics

Customer Question

Hi she had a temperature last week. Vet gave her antibiotics and anti inflammatory. Helped a bit but vet has now given her steroids. These seem to be helping but she is still not right.
JA: Hi there. I'll do all I can to help. Has the dog been eating and drinking normally?
Customer: yes and her poo is ok but she seems to be peeing all the time. When she is standing up liquid coming out of her.
JA: What's the dog's name and age?
Customer: Beau about 5 or 6 she is a Rottweiler cross and I rescued her from kennels about four years ago. She has been neutered as dogs trust gave me a voucher to get done at a reduced price.
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know?
Customer: she is very lethargic and I think she has swollen stomach (or a lump) but the vet said he couldn’t see one.

Hello, you are through to Dr Linda, a UK based vet.
I'm sorry to hear this and appreciate your concern.Does she still have a temperature?Does she have any symptoms other than lethargy and urinary incontinence?Have any tests been run such as a blood test, urine test or bladder scan?
Customer: replied 11 days ago.
I don’t think she has a temperature but the vet mentioned scans and bloods next week

Thank you for this additional information.Absolutely, if tests haven't yet been run then this is the next step.We need to assess her kidney function and check for e.g. a persistent infection, bladder stones or sphincter incompetence. If unwell, I would ask for these tests to be performed ASAP.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any further questions.

Wishing Beau a very speedy recovery.
