She has really loose stool’s and mucus
JA: I'll do all I can to help. When did you notice this looseness? Did the dog eat anything unusual?
Customer: for the last few days I caught her drinking dirty water on a walk. I have worked her but not helping. Also eating grass!
JA: And what's the dog's name and age?
Customer: cookie and she’s 3
JA: Is there anything else the Vet should know about Cookie?
Customer: no

Hi there, this is Dr Linda, a UK based vet.

I'm sorry to hear this and understand your concern for Cookie.

Are her gums pink and wet?

Is she tired or off her food?

Customer: replied 6 days ago.
A little off her food

Gums ok

Thank you.

Has Cookie's diet recently been changed or has she had any new treats?

Customer: replied 6 days ago.
I changed her dry mix as my daughter bought it for her

And this was done right before her signs started?

Customer: replied 6 days ago.
omg I just need to start with the food. So stupid!!

Not stupid at all, but  an abrupt diet change often causes colitis (an inflammation of the gut leading to bloody and mucus filled stool).

I'd offer a probiotic anti diarrhoea paste such as Protexin Prokolin and would also ensure Cookie is up to date with a good quality wormer such as Panacur.

Encourage water drinking. I'd feed bland meals of chicken and rice until the stomach has settled and then gradually reintroduce her regular dog food over a few days.

Thank you

Not at all and wishing Cookie a speedy recovery.

Take care!
