The little scabs are likely from where Poppie has caught her skin while scratching.

I'm sorry Poppie has these signs and understand your concern for her.

Dry skin is not uncommon and, for most dogs, is not a sign of any serious issue.

It can help to:

  • Gently brush the skin twice daily, spreading oils along the fur shaft
  • Start skin supplements containing fish oils
  • Discourage rubbing or scratching if it does occur, and it can help to keep claws short

When next due a parasite prevention, I'd use Advocate spot on, which is very effective and treats mites as well as fleas.

Keep an eye to ensure the skin does not become red or itchy and that she does not have fur loss. If she does, a vet visit is important as she may need e.g. a medicated shampoo or antibiotics.
